V50 15 wheels?
Hi everyone, Im just new and bought my first ever Volvo!
A V50 SE LUX D2 1.6Edrive. First impressions are good quality but has hard act to follow. Audi A6 2005 old style ,pretty faultless but tired. I intend to have car at least 6 years and dont like low profile tyres. Looking to fit factory 15 alloys and finding difficulties in locating them. Plenty available in Sweden! Reasons for 15 , comfort, economy in mileage, and cost. I once had Audi A2 with low profile tyres, changed wheels to narrow and comfort was amazing and nearly 10mpg better. Anyone out there any experience on15 or have any? Cheers Looks like there are 4 wheels all 6x15 et46 5x108 all O/E optional . C30 also Isis Part no 30671508 Libra. Part no 30756286 Acrux Part no 8698214 Adaro Part no 8698213 ? Last edited by thefishingplumber; Apr 22nd, 2019 at 21:44. Reason: Extra information |

Hey,
At least in pre-facelift owners manual there is 15" option for 1.6d , have you checked yours? I think that if they will clear brakes, you can fit 15" wheels... If it is a bit softer ride you are looking for maybe you can try out different tyres before buying a new set of wheels. Where I live we have quite bad roads, and for summer I purchased a set of Sailun Attrezo Elite 215/60 R16 instead of standart 205/55 R16. They were a bit cheaper than premium brands and do wear a tiny bit quicker, but it evens out. And ride gets better, all the bumps dont seem so crashy and sharp. Grip is good, honestly cant really tell a difference from previous set of Continentals and they only marginally fall short of my favourite Pirelly efficient grip performance tyres I had on a prevous car. Only drawback is that speedo lies a bit, but bang for the buck, smoother ride and a "meaty-er" look is worth it. Read somewhere that one guy even fitted a set of 205/65 R16 tyres on his v50 without any rubbing. Assume they are even softer. |

Perhaps you could source a set of 15" black steel wheels and have them painted silver?

Quote:
A 205/65 profile tyre probably doesn't have much bigger sidewall than a 215/60 tyre, as the number after the / is a percentage of the width, so your sidewall is 60% 215mm and the higher profile 65 is the percentage of 205mm, so not a lot in it. Edit to add, MK2 ford focus wheels would fit as same platform, possibly easier to find 15" wheels. Last edited by rowdy; Apr 24th, 2019 at 21:13. |
