Default 1 mirror no longer folding

OK, since this winter 1 mirror no longer folds. Adjusting is fine, folding no noise nothing happening. Anyone who know what the article number is of a replacement folding motor? 2012 XC90

The part numbers are different for with/without heating, with/without BLIS

So tell us what you have

I would diagnose the problem first before ordering the mirror, especially since it will not be cheap.... second hand prices on e-bay auctions are typically £150+ for the most basic units from early cars.

Hence I'd get it off and check the connections are okay, I'd check the motor is getting electrical power and I'd check the motor works by connecting at to a 12v supply/battery.

A Volvo dealer will be able to tell you exactly the part you need from the VIN number (if you do need a new assembly).

What was ever wrong with "Left" and "Right" ?

I can never figure out the UK "offside" and "nearside" descriptions of left and right....

I had to replace a heated mirror with lights, BLIS etc etc because some numpty bashed it with his shoulder while walking past the car and broke the internals.

Cant remember the whole cost but the casing came in quickly from the local dealer and my indie fixed it while I waited.

He transferred the BLIS camera and the lights and mirror glass from the original so that kept the cost down (a bit)

Cheers

Dave

So you can work out the difference in mean flow rates when a transmission oil cooler line diameter is reduced by 1.5mm but...... ?

In the UK near side (i.e. that which is nearest the kerb) is left, o/s is right... simples :-)

That's right. I understand physics, ISO standards, SQL queries, data and specifications and cold hard facts.

"Nearside" always has me flummoxed. Near to the curb? Or near to the Driver's seat, which is normally near the road middle, unless you drive a LHD in a RHD country or vice versa.
When I think of it, I consider as the driver is making the reference, nearside would logically be the side closer to the driver.

And "Near" is a relative term: near to me may be far to you. It's usage is thus dependent on the user.

And why is "offside" the opposite to "nearside"? the opposite to near is far, and the opposite to off is on.
So why isn't it nearside and farside, or onside and offside?

Left and Right are absolute. Can never be confused.
Unless you turn around and look backwards....

Anyway, what with "nearside" and "offside", referring to vehicle age by number-plates, and sticking to inches and drinking pints out of 600mL glasses (which is more than a pint), the UK will forever confuse people like me.

And lets not talk about internet speeds in millibits/s (mb/s)
