Default V50 1.6D drive power loss

Hello,

I’m having a problem with my 8 year old V50 1.6 diesel. It’s done 87k and it been serviced regularly and well looked after. I always ensured its had a couple of long runs a week to help keep the DPF clear.

I’ve always had it serviced at a local Volvo specialist. We recently moved area and had it serviced at a back street garage by a family friend. After it had been serviced, the following days the mpg dropped by 20%, it’s usually around 55-60 and went down to 44-48. I thought this was really strange. Then yesterday it has suffered loss of power. It’s woeful going up hills, can’t get it past 50mph. Really slow in the lower gears too. On the journey back from work a yellow warning light has come on advising engine service required.

Please can anyone offer any advise?

Thanks in advance

Hey,

First thing that springs to mind- any boost leaks, split hoses? If I remember correctly they had this "ribbed" rubber hose right next to the turbo. At least on Fords this hose was prone to fail.

If everything is ok, then not a lot you can do without connecting a scan tool.
