Default 4 wheels with winter tyres

4x15" wheels with Continental winter tyres fitted

As it says. I bought them last year but I just don't make enough use of them to be worth having. I think I drove in frost once. Not worth keeping them "just in case". I paid about £80 (cheap!) and then another £100 getting them resealed and balanced (not cheap.)

One of the wheels has a slight dent on the inside edge of the rim. It means it loses a little air, maybe 2-3psi a week, and it causes a very slight vibration. Noticeable but not annoying. You could fix it at a specialist quite easily as the wheel is otherwise intact, but it's probably cheaper to buy a new wheel. That one wheel possibly needs sealing again as they've been sat unused for a few months.

Continental Winter Contact tyres on all four, all should have over 6mm tread (but I'll double check).

Looking for sensible but low offers, as they were bought as an experiment, and I'm happy to pass on the goodwill to someone else to try it this winter. The tyres are probably worth more than the wheels

Just about to find the original thread with photos so I don't have to take any

Just bumping this thread...

These wheels are still available if anyone wants to make use of them.

Tread is 6mm on two tyres, but they are about 5 years old so they'll lose a bit of traction after this winter. Tread is 3mm on the other two tyres, still road legal but inadvisable for snow driving.

To repeat the above, one rim has a dent, so it does lose a bit of air over time.

I'm looking for offers above scrap value for these, otherwise I'll just keep them for if/when my V40 goes bang and I need to sell my Craters.

Hi Boldmosher,

Is it one of the 3mm or 6mm tread tyres which has a dented rim? My winter set although still legal are now down to fairly low tread depths so at least 2 will need replacing before the winter assuming it gets though the MOT in September.

Cheers
Phil

I think unfortunately it's the 6mm that's dented as that was on the back wheels last year. It's fairly cheap to swap the tyres though, maybe £15 or so at a tyres place.

Ok, will keep them in mind as might just put on two new tyres this winter. Problem is its a long way to head over to pick up used tyres! Cheers, phil
