Default S40 headlight adjustment

Can anyone point me to some illustrated instructions on how to adjust the dipped headlight aim (vertical adjustment) on a 2005 C40?

This may seem like a stupid question, as there are little white plastic hex heads to the side of the lamp cluster just like my S60, but nothing happens when I turn them. Have I got the wrong thing or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks.

The adjusters are quite weak so I would suggest removing the headlight unit (a 30 sec job) and using an allen key directly on the adjuster on the inner end of the light unit.

I have access to a beam alignment machine and I found that three full revolutions of the adjuster made a massive difference and still kept the beam pattern within the required limit.

Thanks, Metblackrat; I took the units out and indeed the gears were jumping. I'll just have to adjust them 'out of the box' and by trial and error.
