Default 2013 Volvo V40 D3 Fuel Flap

Hi all,

So I was called by a family member earlier to their 2013 Volvo V40 D3 as it had little Diesel in it and wanted to nip to the garage to collect some Diesel in a jerry can and then go help fill the car up (yes, I know the dangers of letting a Diesel fuel tank empty).

When we arrived at their car we attempted to insert the jerry can nossel but noticed that the small flap inside the fuel hose wouldn't open and appeared locked. We tried repeatedly locking and unlocking the car, turning the car on and off and nothing. We even looked in the boot where there is a pull cord that looks to go to where the fuel pipe is but pulling this did nothing.

I realise that this will likely need a mechanic but can anyone shed any light on it?

you should have a little white funnel in the standard toolkit somewhere in the rear of the car for this purpose.
