Folks, had the interesting experience of the car seemingly going into limp mode in the fast lane of the M25 today. This happened briefly last week and today, after switching engine off for a few minutes, it was fine. Ran as normal.

The AA are coming out tomorrow to hopefully diagnose it as no warning lights came on. I’ve had similar symptoms in cars before and am guessing it might be the MAF on its way out as the engine has 136k on it now.

In anticipation of this being the problem can anyone direct me to the correct OEM part number. They seem quite scarce on the internet. It’s a MK1 1.9 diesel with the 115 bhp engine.

Cheers

Bernie

I don't know about MKI but an 04 diesel is known as a phase 2.

Your best bet for the part number is to look at the one you have now.

www.carparts4less.co.uk have an 'OE quality' one for £87.12 plus there is an offer code for 12% off.

It maybe worth a punt as I bought mine from eurocarparts (2 or 3 years ago now) and it came in a renault genuine parts box (the engine is of renault origin).

Carparts4less is the 'online only' branch of eurocarparts. The parts they sell are the same but generally they are cheaper on carparts4less, in this case about £40 cheaper!

You can often get Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 really cheap there too. Currently £22.50 before discount.

It’s definitely the MK 1. Right at the end of the model.
AA have been but no fault codes as only got the generic reader. Need to try and find an independent diagnoser or risk it and get a replacement.
