Default Late 2017 V90 D3 higher oil consumption

Hey guys I’m new on here so sorry if I missed a post about my problems. So…I noticed a higher than normal oil consumption on my 2017 VEA V90 D3. I heard and read about problems with piston rings on those engines by the year 2016. But later it should be solved? When I opened the hood of my car I noticed an oily wet spot on the top of the air intake hose around some other hose…did any of you had a similar issue and could that be a reason for high oil consumption? Thanks in advance.

They *improved* the problem, they didn't completely solve it.

My 2019 car suffered from increasing oil consumption and there was a thread on here of a S90 driver who's engine was using large amounts of oil, also a 2019. Both started at higher mileage than they were on the earlier cars though.

That hose is part of the engine breather. Some oil residue isn’t uncommon as oil Vapor flows through it and they do sweat a little. It is well documented these engines like to use oil. The early ones got so bad you be adding litres a week in my case but it appears they haven’t really solved it as more and more posts crop up about it. These engines also like to leak, common areas were cam cover and cam seals. If you were really unlucky you got a porous block but you would certainly see that leaking.

So basically if it ain’t leaking, it’s using it and there’s not a a lot that can be done about it. Run it until the top up warnings naff you off and get shot or fork out for a new short engine or a rebuild. The old add a bit thicker oil doesn’t help either. I was chucking all sorts in our knackered V60 and it still burnt it.

Well the oil consumption isn’t that bad but it’s worse than my previous car I owned. I made around 6000km from last service and I’ll have to top up the oil soon I guess at least what the oil level sensor is showing.
