does the new strut come with the solenoid/accelerator
were would be best place to look for a new one.
i did check out the wiring and it did look ok
i will check it again and test think it read 1.0 same on both side of car
but i did not check for any incoming voltage i think it should red 5volts from what i have read.
Can it be bridged out maybe

Hi.
No , you wont get an accelerometer with a strut. If you are planning on replacing a bad strut then you should really replace both as the other side wont be far behind so this makes the cost tasty .
Monroe C1512 is the part you`d be looking for circa £250+ for one. Can`t say where to look `cos so many factors like availability , shipping , your budget but have a really good round. You may even pick up a second-hand serviceable pair.

Resistance testing as you`ve done is the way to go and that looks about right. What you`re looking for are internal make/breaks in the wires.
The 5V signal refers to the accelerometers and they need proper test equipment so all the home mechanic can do is swap out.

Hi
Is there any simple way the accelerometer or even the strut could be connected to the other side and then see which one causes the fault to swap over?

Do the wiring connectors connect to the same junction box or control unit and could the plugs be changed over to fault find?

Is there a function in Vida to test the solenoids / accelerometers?

Iain

i did think about that but wiring connection not both on same side
i was told you can bridge it out to stop message displaying but there's 3 wires and unsure which one to bridge
i will check see i have a voltage to it first the same on both sides should be 5 volts i have read.
if i buy new shocks i guess i will still have the same problem ?

Are you talking about the resistance of the accelerometer, or the strut solenoid, or both?

It can certainly show all the voltages being applied like this -

I still think you are looking in the wrong place with the accelerometer.
See attached info from Volvo for this error code. They don't mention the accelerometer, only the solenoid and connections to it

Just a minute - are you saying the strut fitted to your car doesn't have a wire coming from it? Because if it doesn't, someones either replaced the damper with a non 4C or perhaps cut off the wire. Have a look at 4C shocks on ebay - they all have wires.
