2017 XC60 Low Battery Charge
I've had the vehicle from almost new and frequently get the low battery charge message after the vehicle has been stopped a few minutes and I've been listening to the radio. I've mentioned it to the dealer every time it's been in and they assure me it's not a problem. I haven't driven the vehicle since Thursday and battery voltage measures 12.6V which suggests to me that it's almost fully charged. At the moment I periodically charge it with a CTEK Stop/Start charger via the tow electric socket.
Does the radio run from the auxiliary battery when the vehicle engine is off? How do you measure the voltage of the auxiliary battery? How does the auxiliary battery get charged? It's all a bit of a mystery after only having had previous vehicles with one battery! |

Open your bonnet while the car is off and disconnect the sensor on the picture below.
Wait 30 secs then plug it back in. |

Resets the battery sensor when you change the battery.

The battery hasn't been removed, disconnected or replaced. Why would that make any difference?

This sensor tells the car to display Battery low! message. Get it now? If the voltage on the battery drops too low, the sensor will remember that even if you did charge your battery. The only way to get rid of this message is to reset it, it needs to be reset every time you change your battery. Last edited by Baal; Jun 2nd, 2020 at 23:30. |

However if BMS sensor was disconnected, car should be locked for at least 6 hours to let the BMS sensor recalibrate again. Battery parameters can be read with any smartphone: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...18#post2588818 |
