I haven't re-checked but I seem to remember reading that City Safety isn't active below a certain low speed, in as much as it won't stop you. I stand to be corrected though.

There have been a couple of generations of City Safety. The current version is active between 2 and 31 mph, whereas in MY11 it had a narrower range, something like 5 to 20mph.

Hi all

Sorry nothing to do with repairing the accident damage but here's a channel 5 test of the system.

Hi I don't know if the V60 is the same as the XC60. But I damaged my front bumper and need a new one. I don't go to Volvo but the repairer said spraying was not required as they come ready painted. The did new to spray the headlight washer cover as it was scratched.

I've not looked it up, but I feel from my driving experience in my V60. It seems if you are braking in the speed/distance city safety is activated, it doesn't sound the beepers or warning lights. I guess it assumes you are in control. Although I've never, or likely to test its bounderies

Thanks for the responses gents. I managed to source a replacement bumper on eBay that doesn't require an imminent respray!

Also ordered the broken parts on either eBay or new through Volvo... all for less than £300 - alot less than the £1100 quoted by Volvo's approved shop...
