All our Merc Axors have a radio cut out when the door is opened. It's for 'noise sensitive' stores, and we have quite a few of those.
The Volvo was an FM back in 2003 delivering envelopes for 'direct marketing' (that's junk mail by a posh name). I'm now night trunking for a major parcel company, old Axors and new Actros', the Actros has the annoying feature of turning the DRLs on when you get out of the cab so half way across the yard you look back and think 'have I left those lights on?', they will then turn off automatically just as you get back to the truck which happens most often when it's chucking it down with rain.

You can turn those lights off. Just go into the lighting menu via the steering wheel buttons and knock it down to 0 seconds. This is done by the steering wheel buttons too.
I never could quite understand why anyone would want the headlamps blazing away when they park the lorry, unless they work in a yard with no lighting.

Just having a read back through the thread you say...

I think you may be confusing yourself. Yes, the courtesy lights will stay on constantly, with the switch pressed over to the left, even when you lock the car either with the key or remote fob.

With the switch in the "DOOR" (flush) position they should remain on for 30 seconds after the doors have been shut and will go out once the ignition is switched on or the car is locked.

Shrug shoulders.
When unlocking via the remote fob the indicators should give two short flashes and one long flash when locking (bringing in the LED on top of the dash).

You might be open circuit somewhere, preventing the alarm from being armed, hence why you get no flash of the indicators when locking. Bonnet micro-switch not disengaging perhaps?

For what it's worth ...

According to https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/p...3/9483146.html

9178827 has been superceded by 9483146, which is currently available from Volvo.

Again according to that page, that part is used on all of these models:

Volvo C70 Convertible 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004
Volvo C70 Coupe 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002
Volvo S70 4DRS S.R 1998, 1999, 2000
Volvo S70 4DRS W/O S.R 1998, 1999, 2000
Volvo V70 5DRS S.R 1998, 1999, 2000
Volvo V70 5DRS W/O S.R 1998, 1999, 2000
Volvo V70 XC 2.4l 5 cylinder Turbo 5DRS S.R 2000
Volvo V70 XC 2.4l 5 cylinder Turbo 5DRS W/O S.R 2000
Volvo V70 XC 2.5l 5 cylinder Turbo 5DRS S.R 1998, 1999
Volvo V70 XC 2.5l 5 cylinder Turbo 5DRS W/O S.R 1998, 1999

I had a look in my 1999 C70 convertible and the switch panel there is completely different, so you can't rely on that.

Here's one in Brazil !

Well, I managed to get a replacement overhead console, but no good, the lights still stay on with the switch in the courtesy light position.

As you've probably read previously read in this thread, I've had both front door locks out and done the repair to the microswitches. On both sides, the footwell and door edge lights now come on and go off as they should.
What I have not done are the rear door locks or the bonnet locks. Do these locks play up regularly?
It's really bugging me now because if something's fitted, I like it to work, and secondly, I'm a night worker, and leave work about 2.15am, so interior lights are very handy at that time of the morning.
So, should I have both rear locks out, plus the bonnet locks?
As I've said before, I'm just about at the limit of my knowledge now.

I read that again Baffler. I'm using the switches on the console correctly.

Switch to the right '0' everything is off.
Switch to the centre, courtesy lights, which stay on for 30 secs after the door is closed, and go out when the ignition is switched on or the doors are locked.
Switch to the left, reading lights.

When I select the centre position, the interior lights stay on permanently.
This is my 4th or 5th P1 V70 now, and I've never had a problem with interior lighting before.

Hej Dave,

just checked. The rear dorrs also have a microswitch and same effect as the frontdoors. The bonnet got a switch as well, but only effect on the light in the loadcompartment.

Hej Hej Gernot
