Default Phase 1 V70 door problem.

I have a 1998 V70.
When I was driving yesterday, I noticed the footwell light was still on. When I stopped the car, I opened the drivers door and closed it again. The footwell light stayed on again, so I opened the door again and closed it again with considerable force. The light went out. When I close the door with what I consider to be normal force, the light stays on. I suffered a flat battery this week, and strongly suspect this was the cause.
So, is the striker plate on the B pillar adjustable?
Are there other adjustments I can make to make the lights go out using normal force to close the door, and not slamming the life out of it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, When you use normal force to close the door does it in fact shut. Assuming it does I would say there is a problem with the footwell light electrical connections. Is there any evidence that the door striker plate has moved?

Had a similar problem with the rear door, turned out to be the micro switch in the door lock assembly.
Luckily I had a spare so changed the complete lock, don't know if it's possible to get new switches.

It'll be sticky microswitches in the door lock mech. Several good threads on here about this problem.

The door does seem to close flush, and I can't see any evidence of the striker plate moving.
I bet it is indeed the microswitch.

Thanks for the replies so far people.

I did read through your excellent post.
I also did what you suggested and flicked the catch over with my finger and the door edge and footwell lights went out. Flicked the catch back again and they came on.
If you look at the striker plate on the b pillar, it has a plastic insert. Mine is almost worn down to the metal, so I'm thinking it's this failing to push the latch over with normal door closing. I did manage to adjust the striker plate by brute force, as one of the torx bolts holding it is mangled, so someone's been there before. The lights seem to go out a bit easier now.
Now where am I going to find a good condition striker plate?

Almost definitely the micro-switches. I've had exactly the same issue on a few occasions over the years, with the resulting flat batteries. Another one to watch for is the red door warning lights staying on when the door is closed.

I got fed up with the hassle (and flat batteries) in the end and just took all the bulbs out..
