Default V40: will it fit a tumble dryer in the boot?

Anyone know if a normal sized tumble dryer appliance will fit in the V40 boot on its back?

I have a vague memory that I tried it once and the angles meant that it wouldn't fit, but it's only a vague memory.

Hi Baldmosher

All i can suggest is having a tape measure at hand, most sizes of Tumble dryers this day and age consist of Dimensions (cm) - H85 x W59.5 x D53 however they do vary.

Measure the Size most importantly the Depth of your product and maybe it will fit.

Ive not tried myself so sorry cant answer for 100% Hope it helps.

It's not just the size of the boot, it's getting it in there through the hatch.

I took a large chest freezer home on the roof of my V40 a couple of years ago. Got some funny looks though...

I've got roof bars, so that's a possibility, but I don't have a crane

If it does end up on the roof you cant over estimate the force put on it by wind. I had 3 good quality ratchet straps over the top and they were ratcheted to the roof rails not the roof bars. Take the slowest route home. We've all put our hands out the window on the motorway and imagine your hand is the size of the box.

I've had a dishwasher in the boot before (it was light, so easy to get in and out). I imagine a tumble dryer is a very similar size, but like others have said check with a tape measure.

I once bought a sheet of plywood, knowing it was too long but happy to tie the boot closed over it for the short drive home. I didn't appreciate it was too wide, however; had to borrow the in-laws car in the end!
