Postcode search on 2012 xc90
I have a 2012 xc90 which I have today updated to 2018 FYI maps.
Perhaps I was hoping for too much but I expected postcode entry after update.... This is not the case. Is it not possible to get postcode search on a 2012 model? Thanks |

Hi, seems a bit retrograde. Mine is a far older xc90 (03) my maps are 2015, but I do have postcode search for at least the first four digits.
I would be surprised if yours does not have at least this... John l |

I have postcode search on my 2012 Executive, with navigation maps from 2012.
I've just purchased new discs and tried and failed to update mine today (new discs are being supplied - see my ownership thread), but I definitely had postcode search and hope to still have it once the upgrade works. I'll try and get a picture of how it works next time I'm in the car if that would be helpful? |

On mine I go to ‘destination’ then it lists country, road and number. But no postcode. |

It's there. Highlight the postcode (top right of screen) and hit enter. Then enter in the desired postcode.

What SW version is on your nav?
Read it in the nav screen that shows you map version A normal map disc includes the latest software (SW) version for the nav, so if you updated to 2018 maps, you MUST have postcode search

I got some discs this week, my 2013 car still had a 2013 map. Unfortunately when I tried to do it after about 30 mins, the low battery warning came up and the nav screen descended despite having the car on a ctek conditioner during the process.
Driving the car again this morning I saw it continue where it left off and I got through another 20 mins of countdown (from 180 to 160 mins) and I guess I'll update it piecemeal over the next few drives as I'm not keen to leave it idling on the drive. Will definitely need to check the health of the battery I suppose. |

Thanks. I will take a picture of it. Not sure how to upload images however.

When updating with engine off do the following:
Have key in POS1 only (radio position) Turn off EVERYTHING you don't need: all lights, radio, climate control. Everything. Set dash dimmer to minimum to reduce nav screen consumption further Connect a charger of at least 5A, ideal is 10A, to offset the battery drain. The charging points in the engine bay is sufficient. When I did it on mine, I could do an entire update using a 5A charger. It took 3 hours, and I had no low battery warning.
