Just a bit of C70 fun.
Hi all,
I have a MY 2006 C70 that became a teenager on Saturday past. I saw another post in the Mk1 forum re: "how old is your C70". Whilst I know there are older vehicles still working away but I was wondering how many older Mk2 C70's are still out there? |

06 C70 still going, though the electrics for the roof need some fixing by the summer!

2008 C70 with 111,000miles. Had it for 8 years. Most problematic car I've ever owned, by a country mile. Won't be rushing to buy another Volvo.

I too have some electrical issues that need to be addressed, but to be expected on a car so complex and of the age it is. Mechanically it's sound and a great drive, the electrics will get addressed eventually though!

Mine’s an October 06 D5 with 35k on the clock. I bought it a year ago and so far the only problem I’ve had is the CEM problem where everything goes nuts. About £230 to get it fixed if I remember correctly.
I’m the second owner. |

'07 D5 geartronic with 125k miles.
Agreed, it's the most expensive car to run I've ever owned. New suspension all around, roof hydraulic pipes replaced (£250/pair from Volvo!). Boot lifting ram failed (£350) filling the boot with hydraulic fluid. Tyres don't last long. Alloys buckle at the sight of a pothole (2 replaced already - only £250 each new fom eBay). Driveshafts both replaced. Great engine and gearbox for cruising. Just normal servicing and ATF fluid changed. No electrical issues as yet touchwood. Dynaudio & retro 6CD superb. Even the satnav is OK with a cheap update disc. SmartTOP roof module never fails to impress either! But still its a great convertible for no money. No point selling it, as only worth £2.5k at best and looks like a £30k car when polished up. My 150k mile '59 XC70 in comparision need very little to keep it going, but on a sunny day its always the C70.

Maybe you can help me. I bought the smart roof Module ( loved it)but have had to remove it as my battery kept drainng flat with it in place. I have had 2 car electrician look at for any other source of the battery drain. Once I took the module off, no more car battery problems. Any ideas? Last edited by yeoman; Mar 20th, 2019 at 11:31. |
