New to Volvo
Hi All,
I have just purchased a Volvo C30 R design 2.0 Petrol LUX (13 plate). I have owned and driven Saab's for the last 12 years, this is my first ever Volvo. I generally do a re-map on any car I buy to help with fuel economy but it seems the model Volvo may not be able to be re-mapped. Is this correct or have i just not been looking in the right place. Regards KMan |

should defenitly be able to remap but I am not sure there will be much of a difference on that engine.

Don't think you'll gain much remapping a NA petrol engine in fact I doubt any tuning houses have even bothered to develop a map; there'd be so little market for it.
Best I can suggest is running a replacement K&N filter panel, running on Super Unleaded and making sure the tyre pressures are correct for the type of use etc.

I'm not terribly convinced you'll get much gain from super unleaded either to be honest. Unless the car's tuned to run on 98+ RON you invariably see no difference. I remember 5th Gear doing a test of multiple fuel types on a Golf GTI a few years ago and they saw anything from + or - 3hp from using it and one premium unleaded provided less hp on a dyno than supermarket 95RON.
Trying to get extra power from a normally aspirated engine without massive modification is probably a futile exercise. A panel filter is probably about your lot TBH.

It's been said already but on a normally aspirated petrol engine that it already in a good state of tune, the potential in minimal, maybe 2 or 3 BHP?
You'd get similar gains by dumping the spare wheel and back seats...
