The handbook for my 760 is just as informative John!

Kerb weight between 1371-1540kg (UK only) but the GVW is again on the plate under the bonnet.
Arguably the GVW will be the same as the 740 because it's the same chassis, suspension, brakes etc so i'll look later to see what it says on the plate under the bonnet of my 760 and see if i can work out from there what the payload would be.

Then deduct 120kg for this non-lightweight driver! Probably just as well i'm not light, i no doubt helped to keep the front end on the deck!

I think it is, 'bob12', and it certainly meets the 'Trivia' qualification. It is also something that I had not really considered until I saw 'Laird Scooby''s photographs.

Regards. John.

Hi John .... no slight intended on your topic. My Operator fault. I made a comment but got wrong thread. Subsequently realised error but you can't delete a post and so just agreed with you upon something which is in fact 'quite interesting', and one on which made input many years ago

Bob.

Not quite trivia (not my original criteria for the thread). However, here's a very nice August 1985 on a C plate 744GL for sale. Note it is a 1985 model year car not a 1986 model year car*.

Jon.

*this is the trivia bit !

That's better! Good looking car, strange intake arrangement though!

Also looks like it's been debadged and as a general observation, looks very "70's with a hint that it's dragging itself into the 80's" - the 14" steel wheels with hub caps, high profile tyres, the stripey cloth trim, push-button analogue tuned, spindle-mount radio, the very basic heater controls etc.
