Default Damage to front grill

Today on my way to work on a dual carriageway , a pigeon flew out in front and i hit it below the bonnet. I never saw it bounce off and thought....its stuck in the grill..
I get to work and look, and yes, there it is.
After getting it out its obviously broken the plastic grill. Now, I've popped into my local dealer and nearly had a heart attack when they told me how much. 2 hrs to fit too..

So my question is, how easy is it to do it myself. I also have the front camera in the grill.. does it really take 2 hrs to do..
Any advice would be great..cheers..

Think I would claim something like that on car insurance!

I did think of that, but the repairs cost £10 more than my excess....so not good...

A shame but not as bad as the pigeon's problems!

Thats true......i just can't believe a bit of plastic cost £660 to fit..im looking on ebay etc, but not sure if the camera needs a special grille or if its all the same. I know the camera can't be retrofitted, and the grilles on ebay are up to £300... A costly buy if its wrong. I may just have to fork out and get it done properly...
Just feel like im getting mugged..lol..

Try the Volvo parts place in Preston (the name of which currently escapes me). They were breaking a load of XC90s so will have a grille. They will return and refund if it is wrong. They have access to VIDA too. As for fitting, something like that cannot be that hard. Even if it takes you twice as long at 4 hours it would still be worth the saving......

Phone FRF Volvo with your VIN and the forum discount code and ask them how much it will cost to buy and post the part. At the least it will give you an additional option - new, 2nd hand, fitted, DIY, etc
At least you would know it would fit your car, any (all) the locking tabs would be in one piece and, quite often, I find parts from them are as cheap if not cheaper than lots of the 2nd hand stuff you see on ebay.

Evolv parts in Preston, that's the one!

150 quid is plus postage and plus VAT so more like 200 in total but still far below 600 quid.....

That’s a curious place - are they breaking a single white, engineless zero miler XC90 and they’ve just taken lots of pics of the individual bits or have they got lots of them??

As to why they are breaking zero miles cars with no apparent claims / damage is another interesting question in itself?
