Thanks for the link. Sadly it's for an exe to install a download manager to then download the maps. I don't install unnecessary software on my PC, so is there anywhere I can just download the map files?

Providing the map download as an .exe is a ridiculous way to go about this. I completely agree with you about running .exe's on a Windows system when there is no way to verify whether that .exe is safe or not and especially when you are going to transfer it to a USB stick anyway. Why the need for an install?

Perhaps a virtual machine where the .exe can run to it's hearts content without worrying about your main system?

No, that is the function of the exe file.

A decent malware checker will confirm whether the .exe is safe or not but I agree with your point. Perhaps having an application to do the download is Volvo's attempt at keeping the download process simple? Not everyone is tech-savvy and some won't be comfortable with downloading and transferring multiple files and folders to USB.

On a mac you just download direct to the USB.
