Default C70 Roof Failure

Hello there

I was at home opening the roof ready for a clean and it only partially opened before a the dreaded Roof Failire notice.

I managed to get it closed up manually by following various videos and advice on forums,

I attempted to open it again this weekend but the failure returned.

There is a roof specialist in Guildford who will do a diagnostic (for a fee)

Its a 2006 C70 2.4 with 100K on the clock.

Is it likely to be economically viable to get it sorted, I appreciate this is a peice of string question, but just trying to gauge the likelihood of an affordable outcome.

thanks

Richard

There will probably be a fault code for a faulty sensor, but it will not be the senor itself , a black wire is most likely to have broken in the loom on the left side where it bends with the hinge. Volvo dealers are the only experts on these roofs economically as they have been sorting them for 17 years now...

Would echo the above, the roofs a generally very reliable and when they do go wrong it's usually a simple sensor, switch or cable. Access to Volvo diagnostic equipment is essential as few, if any, generic readers will be able to access the CAB module for codes and activations/programming.

The Volvo dealer might not be the cheapest but they have the highest chance by far of fixing it in one visit. I know a few people who have blown a fortune on Mk1 and Mk2 C70 roofs by going to a "specialist", getting a grand in with no fix, then on to the next "specialist" and start again.............

it is possible to fix it yourself you will need good quality diagnostic equipment and the ability to understand and follow the info available . iv fixed a few but it takes time and patience.
