2005 Volvo s60 d5 tdi 185 BHP
Hi everyone.
My dad has a new car. A 2005 Volvo s60 d5 tdi 185 BHP. I would like any advise you may have on a remap please. The car has covered 79K with FSH. What do we think of piggy back boxes such as this http://www.racechip.de/en/chiptuning...0/d5-136kw.php Is there anyone in or around kent that would do a rolling road remap and if so how much. What do you think is a sensible bhp gain for the 185. Many thanks in advance for any help. |

Interesting post - why isn't "Dad" asking the question - it's his car?
Anyway, plenty of info out and about. The search function is useful as is Google. Just remember what ever information you get is based on other people's opinions and they might not neccessarily have the same point of view or opinion as you (or your dad for that matter; are you posting because your Dad has the opinion he doesn't want to alter the car?). Anyway IMHO First ditch any ideas of a plug in box. Good for this Next, search and read. For example: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=164777 http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/21267-w...-for-a-v70-d5/ In essence, do your research, make up your own mind and take it from there. Keywords to look for are MTE, Shark, RICA and BSR. Anyone who says (sucking teeth) "mmmm, remapping, have to take the chip out of the ECU for that". Smile and walk away. Remapping over the OBD is the way to go with the car age indicated. But then your Dad might not have the same opinions as you edit: and don't forget, Dad might be asking you to pay for his insurance premium increase. You will remember to declare the remap to his insurers won't you?

a popular mod / improvement for the diesels is to get a DPF Delete, saves the risk of any issues with it becoming blocked etc, there are many companies out there that can do this, speak to Ben @ shark performance he has a diesel v50 which he has done some great stuff to.
