Default VIN number identification

Having done the norm and looked up the vin details for my various 960 cars, I can understand most of the abbreviations given in the descriptions but what does 'TWC' stand for on the engine descriptions please? (It is bound to be something very obvious but my glasses need a clean!!)

For the 400-series I can add the next details:
e.g.
XLBKX313EPCxxxxxx
XLB = manufactor : VOLVO CAR CORPORATION NETHERLANDS
K = Type : K = 440
E = 480
X = Restraint System : X = 3 points seat belts
31 = Engine Type : confirms list from Bob. In this case a B20F-208
3 =
E = Constant = Europe
P = Model year : Confirms list
C = Factory Code = BORN, THE NETHERLANDS
the xxxxxx is chassis number

Some more information to add to the VIN identifications (when you find time Bob!):

200 series:
Manufacturer Code
: Early cars (some/all?) pre 1981 'big bumper' cars do not have YV1 at beginning of VIN (they only have 14 rather than 17 character VIN)
Vehicle Type: Clarification, 240 and 260 never appear; the number of doors always appears here, so you will only see 242, 244, 245, 262, 264 or 265.
Engine Types:
23 is B200K as well as B19K
24 is B200E as well as B19E
81 is B230A as well as B23A
84 is B230E as well as B23E
88 is B230F as well as B23F
Model Years:
B = 1975
E = 1976
H = 1977
L = 1978
M = 1979
A = 1980
B = 1981
C = 1982
D = 1983
E = 1984
(The model was in production for so long, that year letters were used more than once.)

700 series:
Vehicle Type:
Have never seen one with an X; have always started with 7 eg 744, 745, 764 & 765; assume a 780 would be 782.
Engine Types:
23 is B200K
24 is B19E as well as B200E
26 is B19ET and B200ET
29 is B204E
62 is B28A
68 is B28E as well as B280E
69 is B28F as well as B280F
81 is B230A
83 is B230K
84 is B23E as well as B230E
86 is B23ET as well as as B230ET
89 is B234F
Gearbox:
5 is listed as ZF4HP22 rather than ZF22 (is this the same?)
5 is also used for AW71 with lock-up for model years prior to 1988. (6 used 1988 on.)
8 = BW55
Model Years:
C = 1982
D = 1983
E = 1984
F = 1985
G = 1986
H = 1987
Factory Codes:
0 = Sweden
1 = Sweden
2 = Belgium
3 = Canada
4 = Thailand
5 = Malaysia
6 = Australia
7 = Indonesia
A = Sweden
D = Bertone, Italy

900 series
Vehicle Type:
similar to 700 series, start with 9 rather than X
Engine Types:
24 = B200E
28 = B204GT
29 = B204E
68 = B280E
60 = B280F
74 = D24TIC (with EGR)
75 = D24TIC (without EGR)
76 = D24T
77 = D24
81 = B234G (as well as B230FK?)
84 = B230E (as well as B230GK?)
89 = B234F
Gearbox:
5 listed as ZF4HP22 rather than ZF22
6 also includes AW30-40 and AW30-43
Model Years:
M = 1991
N = 1992
P = 1993
Factory Codes:
0 = Sweden (VKAV)
1 = Sweden (VTV/VTM)
2 = Belguim (VEC)
3 = Canada (VCL)
4 = Thailand (TSA)
5 = Malaysia (SMA)
7 = Indonesia (ISMAC)
A = Sweden (Uddevalla)

850 series:

Model Year:
M = 1991
Factory Codes:
2 = Belgium (VEC)
4 = Thailand
5 = Malaysia (SMA)
7 = Indonesia

Finally, 700 & 900 cars in USA & Canada have VINs of format: YV1DA6942C1001234, where the first 3, 6th & 7th and last 8 characters have same meaning as European etc. cars. The other four characters (nos. 4, 5, 8 & 9) mean:
4th character:
D = 700 with 3 point seat belts
F = 740
G = 760
H = 780
J = 940
K = 960
5th character:
up to 1985 is blank
1986 - 1991
A = Air bag + Seat belt
F = Air bag + Seat belt
X = Seat Belt
1992
S = 4 door with Airbag
W = 5 door with Airbag
T = 4 door with seat belt
X = 5 door with seat belt
8th character:
up to 1991:
2 = 2 door
4 = 4 door
5 = 5 door
1992, it is for emissions:
0 = Basic version
1 = with EGR
3 = Alt. fuel/ignition system (B230F, Bendix)
9th character:
This is a check no.

Most of the above information has been sourced from the following Volvo books:
200: Specifications 240 1975 - 1985 (TP 30177/6)
700: Pocket Data Booklet 1982 - 1989 (TP 88637/8)
900/850 Data Booklet 1991 -1994 (TP 0302031)

Many thanks. I will pray for a wet day over the weekend so I have an excuse not to do the gardening.
