Default Watta Mistaka to Maka!!!

So, I'm cleaning up my new (well new to me) alloy wheels. Got all the paint off, cleaned up the little bit of corrosion, and now polishing them, fine abrasive wheel, 240 grit wet and dry, 400 grit wet and dry, 600 grit wet and dry, and now a nice polishing wheel in the lekky drill for the last polish before proper dedicated alloy metal polish, but I've got to the stage where I need to keep washing mucky residue off the wheel to see where I am at.

Bucket in the garden is a pita... thinks... SWMBO is upstairs, working on the computer, wonder if the wheels would fit in the kitchen sink, but must finish before she comes down, or I'm in the S H 1 T.
Sink is very shiny..hope my wheels come up as good as that!
Try a wheel, yes, just fits.
Run sink of hot water and washing up liquid... washing up brush is just right to scrub polish residue out of the corners.
Dry nice clean, shiny wheel off with tea towel.
Take wheel out to shed, stand and admire, daydream, think what it will look like on the car, consider if to transfer existing tyres or get some decent new ones, ponder about finances.....jump in air at bloodcurdling scream from kitchen.

AAAGH, SWMBO has come down stairs and seen state of sink, which I had forgotten to clean up due to daydreaming.
"I've just spent 3 hours cleaning this kitchen.... what the !!!** have you done in this sink? And my washing up brush.. its black, and what have you done with the tea towel?"
"Sorry dear, I'll come clean it up"
"You've had those wheels in here haven't you? (Retorical question). I'll clean it up. I don't want your mucky hands near my sink again, (etc)."

OOPS!!
Ian, don't laugh. I think I'm slightly in the doghouse, the only extenuating circumstances are that I have mown the lawn, trimmed the edges, planted SWMBO's new plants, weeded the borders, and painted the hall ceiling, so I might get away with it!!

Outstanding!

Marginally less serious than getting silver hammerite on the landing wall after carrying nearly dry alloys up to back bedroom.............

I was reminded again of this earlier today just before some prospective buyers came to view the house.

I have just relayed your post to SWMBO - "why do you blokes do things like that? You know it will allways go wrong" Discretion being the best part of valour I kept quiet.............

Hi
Try asking if she would be kind enough to clean them for you!,after aii we keep getting told how well women can " multi task " and we can't. She could clean the wheels and keep the sink spotless at the same time.

Have passed this information onto SWMBO, and she's probably going to call on you next time we have to take something up for our son at Hull Uni.
I'll try to phone befoe we leave, that'll give you about 3.5 hours to get out of the country!!
