Which redblocks are non interference engines?
Hi all,
Just a quick Q, does anyone have a list of which redblocks are non interference motors? Ta! Phil

Both of those answers (Prufrock, Baggy) confuse me.
I thought on the four cylinder engine only the 16v head made for an interference engine, meaning most redblocks aren't. Someone please explain?

... and that Mr P is? ..... Don't keep us in suspense!! I guess it's some 16v hybrid with an odd head and camshaft!

B230E is high compression with a relatively high lift cam. B230K is interference based on observational evidence. Quote:

A mate of mine had his 360 glt sat idling and the cambelt snapped (b200e). Chucked a new belt on and it ran perfectly.
I thought all 8v redblocks with the 530 and 531 head were non interference. |

definitive
Bit of bollocks here , b230k with 631 head and b234 are interference engines. The rest are non interference.
A b234 head on a b230 block is where it's very close. If the head has been skimmed then it will probably turn it into interference. ( Valve reliefs cut obviously).
