Better still, drop in a 1UZ - the B27 (as it was when it first appeared to the public) was 3/4 of an original V8 but Peugeot, Renault and Volvo got scared in the development stage because of the fuel crisis in the early 70s and simply lopped off 2 cylinders, hence the odd-fire crank.

It would have been about a 3.6L V8 if that hadn't happened, a 4.0 modern V8 would work wonders!

Worst case scenario, that process costs you £100/£150 and some enjoyable (if you're like me!) spannering time, and the motor turns out to be crocked, in which case you either rebuild the engine or junk it and put a B230FT or similar in, and live happily ever after.

Personally, if I had the time and money, I would LOVE a project like this.
Agreed on that, i'd put a set of plugs, HT leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm (they're cheap on the B28E), oil/filter change with a drop of my favourite ATF making 1L of the oil capacity, and then try starting it. I'd disconnect the ignition amp module to prevent it firing immediately though then give it a few bursts on the starter to make sure the oil pressure light went out and then plug the ignition amp back in before the actual starting attempt.

No cam belt to worry about, timing chains on it.

See what happens then but either way, the pre-revamp units will always be rougher etc than the revamped B280 versions.

Hmmmmmmmmm, Saab T16, Dolomite gearbox, hybrid prop - could work!

Toyota/Lexus 1UZ V8, AW-70 gearbox (aka Toyota A341), Volvo prop - would work!

Is this the gold one that's been on ebay for a while now Luke?

Its a red saloon, not been on the road for 20 years and missing some trim but luckily I still have then from the 760 I broke 6 years ago, I knew hoarding would come in handy one day.

I think it might just be worth getting it up and running then sell on.

That would be the most cost-effective option, put it into the SEP area - Somebody Elses Problem!

If you can get it running that will be the best option. To sell on keeping the V6 is the best bet.

Just to update, the cost of transporting it was too much and the potential headache the engine could have caused put me off. Got a 940 breaker coming instead haha

Probably a wise move Luke, leave it for a true enthusiast of the early PRV V6 engine who will view it as a labour of love. Won't be me, i'm not a fan of the early version of the engine.

Default 940 - in a sad state!

Help, please?!!

My beloved 'J' Reg 940 Turbo has been sitting for four years after the turbo went and it started using/loosing more oil than petrol. I have replaced back road-springs and shockers. I have a spare engine - B230FK - that I (stupidly?) bought which I was told was running well - it sits in the back of the car where the dogs used to go! The clutch will need replacing at the same time. It also has no back callipers - these I took off for replacement and they have duly vanished! There is a little rust. I am now disabled and can't do large jobs on it any more. I had a quote for this second engine to be re-built at over 2K. What to do? Do I scrap? Sell as a project? (How much would it be worth?). All more difficult as I live near Land's End!

I have just posted about help needed for my V70 as well - it keeps stalling.

At least my 'K' Reg 440 is still pottering on - although it's loosing water - -

Any ideas would be gratefully received at:

k.runcimanannand@gmail.com

Thanks very much,
Kenneth (aka Buryan).

First idea is find out why your 440 is losing water - if it's anything serious it could easily turn into head gasket failure (if it hasn't already) on one of those.

As for your 940, you're kind of between a rock and a hard place. Whether sold as scrap or a project in need of a rebuild, you're not looking at much and i suspect it would be worth a lot more if it was up and running, even if not MoT'd.
Will your disability allow you to change the turbo? It seems that was the major problem with your old engine so that might be a good place to start. Alternatively perhaps you know of someone who could do the work for you at a reasonable rate.

Not sure what else to suggest really.
