OBD2 Scanner to match 850 OBD2 app
Can anyone recommend a good elm327 scanner for use with the '850 OBD2' app for the purpose of reading dynamic pump timing numbers?
My £5 ebay one doesn't quite cut it unsurprisingly but I have heard alot about the 'BAFX Products OBD2 scanner' for about 40 quid. My 'Green Goddess' is quite shaky at the wheel, only pulling 38mpg and has emissions light on since cam belt change, and was only timed by the marks. Presumably running her too advanced (which it feels like), is not good for the bottom end either! Any suggestions much appreciated.

I have one of them and I can confirm it works with the 850 OBD2 App. It's what I use to check the dynamic timing on my 1998 V70 Tdi.

Thanks. The engine feels very harsh and I want to retard the pump timing a little until scanner arrives next week as I still have a few miles to do till then.... do you know off-hand which direction the pump pulley needs to move (looking from nearside of car), if I adjust the belt tensioner and idler to achieve this? Many thanks in advance. Clint

I'm fairly sure you rotate the camshaft pulley anti-clockwise with respect to the camshaft to retard the timing but not 100% certain. It doesn't need to move by much: no more than a milimeter or so at the circumference to make quite a difference.
