Default RED/WHT wire to coil,??

1979 245 B21A I have a red/wht wire comes off neg side of coil and goes into loom, anyone know where it goes,? or what it does,? as there is No engine control unit on this car as far as I am aware,???

Does it have a tacho?

After checking the manual. Neg side connections are for fuel pump(if fitted), ignition module(or points), distributor and tachometer.

Would agree the thing is it doesn't appear to make a difference wether I connect it or not....so got me curious No pump or module and not the point's wire and another wire connects the rev counter...so mystery

It will go up to the dash ready for a tachometer. Also the green fuel pump relay is connected to it, the pulses keep the fuel pump relay closed.

I think(like mine) it has a manual pump on the block.
Some wires remain forever a mystery!
