Default flushing 850 gearbox with Dextron II

As I've been given two gallons of new Dextron II ATF fluid Ive decided that I will use it to flush my gearbox as it's in dire need. Does anyone see any issues I will get ? Once the flushing is done I will be refilling with Dextron III also a small flush to rid most of the Dextron II

The question is does your gearbox really need a flush ? Perhaps if it's done 200k miles and never been changed but generally I think the filter should be holding most of the crud and the magnet a bit more of it.

Personally I'd drop the sump and clean it, renew the filter, new gasket and stick it back together with approved fluid. I can't say whether the Dexron II will harm the gearbox or not but is it worth the risk ?

Default flush

it really needs a flush the fluid is going brown. I wont be using the Dexron II simply flushing the box through seems a waste just to ditch 2 gallons the spend extra on III ill see if anyone with a 740 could use it

Default dexron II

Even though the Gearbox specs require Dexron IIE you think Dexron II would still do the job?

To be honest, IIE is stated as the minimum spec.

Even though you're just flushing (ie not driving / shifting with it in), I wouldn't. I'd use either IIE or III.
