Default Buzzing Solenoid

Hi all.

Stopped car this morning and this solenoid buzzed for 2-3mins after switching engine off.

Not a clue what it is so a few questions:-
What is it, what does it do and is the buzzing a problem, it seems intermittent?

Thanks in advance....

That'll be your EGR converter (vacuum solenoid) which controls the opening of the EGR valve. It's normal for it to cycle, usually whilst driving, and you don't hear it due to engine noise. To lower the buzzing noise you can pop off the top rubber hose and get a shot of PTFE spray oil in there to help lubricate the plunger.

Thanks Liam,

That makes sense.
Coincidentally I've just ordered an Egr blanking plate, once fitted would it be ok to disable the solenoid?
