Unhappy A request for help please! :( Fuel Pump seals, VOL FCR

Morning all,

Hopefully this thread is suitably positioned in the general 850 section but I find myself in need of some help with my slightly poorly 850!

She is a 2.5 TDi with the VAG engine but has a rather leaky fuel injection pump. As such, I have located a rebuild kit (or rather a kit containing replacement seals) but am not sure how to go about removing or where to start with it.

So.....I need someone who knows this engine well to replace the seals and then retime the pump using VOL FCR. Whilst plugged into VOL FCR I could also do with the mileage pulling off the ECU as the odometer gave up a year ago (before I owned the car) and I have 2x replacement cogs to fit to the odometer gubbins.

I am supposed to be driving to car to Spain mid December and am leaving puddles all over the place!

Would be extremely grateful for some help here,

Many thanks,

James

I have a few of these pumps kicking about!, out of interest where is it leaking from? never had one leak before!

There is a half decent how to somewhere on how to time these but I will have to look for it!

I'll be honest, I am not entirely sure whereabouts it is leaking from but it has got notably worse since converting to veg.

I hot pressure washed the engine but the leak is that bad after a drive down the road and parking up again a quick look at the injection pump and its sweaty again (obviously leaking) and it leaves quite a bit of veg oil on the floor!

Am in Reading by the way 2 mins from Junction 12 of the M4

Yes a Bosch service centre.
You cant diy a diesel pump.
If it's coming apart your going to need it calibrated more than likely.. on top of that you've been running veg oil through it.. whilst the car will run it does take its toll on pumps, injectors and all fuel components .I would put money on it it's your veg oil that has buggered the seals to make it leak in the first instance .
It's a lot more viscous than diesel and your pump has to work hell of a lot harder.
Failing that just swap the pump out and get them to retime it the right way with a dti.
I very much doubt your going to find a forum member to fix your pump.
