Default What Watt?

Does anyone know what Watt the H7 Headlight dipped beam headlight bulbs draw?

I am planning on replacing them with HID kits but don't want hassle of error messages.

Thanks in advance....

Standard H7 bulbs are rated at 55 watts so will draw a current of about 5amps each.

You possibly will get an error message as the power reqiured for HID is much lower and will possibly show up as dipped beam lamp failure.
I replaced the whole headlamps with a replacement hid units complete from Volvo and got this message and ended up putting a 10w lamp and fitting in the circuit to raise the power requirements.

Thanks for the replies.

I am told that the after market HIDS can be a little dazzling for other road users but the xc90 haedlamp does have the inbuilt shield. I thought i'd just give it a go....

DRLs waiting for the install but i want to make sure ive got a super duper glue to fit them with before I begin!!

I saw a link for good HIDs from the states..... I'll try and find it.

I found it....

www.vvme.com

My Father in law lives in the US and is coming over in a few weeks so I might get him to post and carry them over for me.

They look good qaulity if reviews are to be believed. I am pretty sure that the new MOT regs in January mean retro HID kits are outlawed so they might be redundant by then anyway!!!

I do that but they are often far too pricey.... not seen Xenons come up though to be honest.

Crazy money!! I think i'll have a go at the aftermarket option and see how that goes, if it is dazzling or inappropriate i'll not do it!
