Hi,
did you all get the alarm message fixed? I have it on mine and plan to get it looked at when it goes in for it service in a months time. Would it be worth mentioning it is probably a faulty mass sensor...wondering if dealers take note of these forums, or will just indicate that they are not reliable and leave it to the professionals....oh and we will need to charge you diagnostics fee to find out what it is... oh and I also seem to have a damp passenger foot well when it rains.. from a blocked sunroof drainage pipe I have read. (on the XC90 board I think). anybody else had this issue and wasvit easy enough to resolve yourself thx |

I am now getting intermittent "Alarm System Malfunction - Service Required" messages on my 2014 V60 d4.
It happened the first time after the dealer had it to correct the failing EGR Cooler, and has been intermittent ever since. It appeared as soon as I started the car after the EGR Cooler was replaced. I walked straight back into the dealer and they plugged it in to the diagnostic machine, said there were no error codes logged, and sent me on my way. Sometimes it happens 2 or 3 times a week, other times it will go away for 2 or 3 weeks. No rhyme nor reason to it. Is there a definitive cause for this error? or is it just a throw money at it until its cured? |

So at my recent service, I raised the intermittent alarm service issue, to which I was told the drivers door lock was faulty (I had suspicions of this as occasionally the lights wouldn't flash when the lock button was pressed). This meant that the Drivers door wouldn't lock until the deadlocks activated.
However, following the replacement of the Drivers Door Lock, (2 weeks ago today) the alarm service message is back. When I spoke to the dealer at the service they said that if the alarm service issue came back it would need a new siren, something to do with the battery in the siren. Is there any point in contacting customer services as it is IMHO shocking that an alarm siren needs to be replaced on a 5 year old car..... the reason for this is a battery which is dying, which the dealers obviously know about, otherwise why would they even mention it as the fault code on the service only showed the door lock issue? |
