Default Ferry good!

There is a method for setting alarm but omitting the movement sensors. It involves locking the door with the fob after locking and unlocking it with the button on the door. So if some hairy matelot breaks in mid-Channel the alarm will go off if he opens the door but not if he breaks a window!

Given that you'll be several decks away in any event, you'd not hear the alarm anyway!

The easiest solution is exactly as has been suggested, just to lock the door with the key! The central locking will still work perfectly.

Cheers

The Volvoguard manual says:

Disconnection of the sensor:-
The alarm must be deactivated.
Put the ignition on position II
Press remote control button 1 (outer) briefly
When the indicators acknowledge by a brief signal, the alarm sensor input is disconnected.
Sensors reconnected when ignition switched on again

Alarm disconnection (service position)
The alarm should be activated.
Switch the ignition on position II
Keep remote control button pressed for 3s
Indicators acknowledge by two brief signals, alarm in service position
LED blinks every 3s
Alarm reconnected when alarm next reactivated

the second switch on the remote is for cars with boot release function, though you have the same remote fob even if you dont have this function. nothing has worn off the button, it would never have had anything on there to start with.

I would expect Simon that the second button would be for the Panic Siren on the 850, with the Volvo guard system....
Op with your engine running press the lower button and see what happens!!
Cheers
