Default S60 Cruise Control

Sometimes my cruise control will not activate and display "cruise" on the dash unless I switch off the ignition and switch it back on again.

Anyone else had this or know of a fix?

I can answer your question yes and no. Mine failed to operate once on a return 25 mile trip, next day it was ok, so no doubt had I restarted it would have worked again. Being a one off within the high frequency of other unwelcome happenings over the past 18 months (See Spurious events) this fault has not been pursued. Although no progress has been made with the others, the last dealer proposal was rejected, as it was illogical. However the dealer has on my instigation eventually contacted Sweden and is having the car in tomorrow for investigation, so my original topic could soon get an update.

A best guess if it is not software would be composite wiring/earthing/voltage variation/radio interference. The digital TV box locks occasionally, but is fine after off/on, aircraft have a number of back up systems to reduce incidences of falling out of the sky.

I have had the same problem on my 2003 S60. The cruise control would not come on when the engine was first started but when you switched off and restarted it was OK. This lasted about a month and then miraculousy, it cured itself and has been OK for about the past 6 weeks

The Brake Pedal Sensor has been replaced and the problem appears to have gone.

I have just had my D5S in to the agent for exactly the same fix, it seems to be a common ailment. Although I knew the answer from this topic the service engineer imediately sait brake switch when I said I had a cruise control problem. He has fitted dozens of them to S60's.
