Google Infotainment System

I have had our XC40 for 2 weeks now and love it.
I do miss a few things I thought it would/should have had.

A couple are to do with the Google system, which I like for ease of setting a destination on the sat nav. However I cant seem to be able to get notifications of road signs or speed cameras.

Are they included on the Google system as they were on Sensus?

It should be available on your car Froggy. It says in the MY23 manual that you activate it from the centre screen in “function view”; the same as previous models.

Have you tried using the speed limiter to see if they show on screen when that’s activated?

In some markets the speed limits are derived from the map data and can be switched off in the map settings. I don’t think this applies to the UK, but may be worth a look.

I think I was rather spoilt by the number of function options available on the previous Volvo.(V90) It ran into two screens
I was rather hoping this Ultimate would be somewhat similar.
I am reluctant to try the speed limiter due to the number of scare stories from members who have tried it.
I cannot find any other links or options for road sign recognition or speed cameras.
Who knows, Google may just add them. The cars cameras are all there.

Why not try it out on a quiet road. In my experience, the problem with the speed limiter was when the camera kept reading the speed limit from side roads. The car will slow down, but not violently. Then the map data sometimes corrects it and allows the car to speed up again, but the map data is not always correct. It would only need to be on for a few seconds for you to check whether the speed limit is displayed.

It seems strange that Volvo would drop the road sign display. The MY23 manual shows it as being available so maybe they had a camera shortage when your’s was going down the production line.

When I’ve been unable to resolve issues on my XC40, I’ve used the “Contact Us” feature on my Volvo phone app. I’ve found them to be very helpful and knowledgeable. You’d just need tell them that you can’t find a way to activate the road sign display and they’ll get back to you with an answer.

I havent got around to inputting the new Volvo into the app as yet. Something I will do tomorrow.
I will let you know if I can find out anything further.
