Hi all,
I have a 2004 Auto D XC70, it has done 86,000 miles and has recently developed a oil leak, I have been advised it is from the Turbo. Would anyone be able to advise me on where to look for a reconditioned one ?
Many thanks,Nigel

Your best bet to find a good one would be to contact minty, there's a link here https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=281466&page=2. It is also worth a pm.

PS, I've pm'd you minty's phone number.

Just a quick note, if the oil is leaking externally then the turbo is possibly still fine & it may be coming from a feed/return pipe. If the turbo itself were at fault I would expect to be burning oil through the engine (with blue exhaust smoke and the consequent risk of runaway on a diesel) rather than leaking externally.

May I politely suggest you gain a second opinion before paying the garage to replace the complete turbo?

The turbo itself leaking oil (internally) usually results in blue smoke - and is unlikely.
The oil feed/return pipes are most likely, gasket at the turbo end and rubber seal on the return to the block, both cheap parts and can leak, especially if they have been disturbed and not replaced previously.

Where is it leaking from when you lie underneath?

Could it be the core plug?
