Default Indicator stalk wearing out?

A few times, I've had the right hand indicator on to go round a roundabout or turn, I've done my manoeuvre, it should have clicked off and I've noticed the left hand clicking 3 times for lane change, or just pushed down to the left and indicating.

Do these wear out or am I just accidentally knocking it?

Mine has given no problems but I have only 68,000 on the car.

I'm still not convinced that I'm not just knocking it, I'll keep an eye on it.

Same here; no issues whatsoever for me, I’m on 102,000 now...

Sorry to revive this old thread, but this is also happening to me.
When i'm turning right at a tight T-junction, the car starts indicating left once the wheel is straightened and driving straight.
This happens fairly consistently now and i'm not knocking the stalk, im getting used to cancelling the false signal each time!

I still have this problem and still thought it was just me, so I've done nothing about it... car is on 116k. Let me know if you investigate further!

I have the same problem in my v70. I honestly thought it was me knocking it. It doesn't do it all the time hence why I thought it was me. Maybe its just a design fault and not broken.

I have similar on the landrover, investigations revealed a worn pawl on the underside of the steering wheel, new switches made no difference, have fitted 2, 1 good secondhand and 1 brand new Lucus as the dip switch which is on the same stalk burns out regularly.
A secondhand steering wheel fixed it I think, was only on a day until I found the horn inoperative and the original wheel reinstalled, sooner a non cancelling indicator than no horn. At 24 years and 200,000 miles I can live with it, we're it the volvo probably not but if the causes are similar then I suspect the bills will be big.
