V60 Metal Grinding and full lock issue woes
Hi all,
First post, be nice :-) So I have a 61 plate V60, been decent for the years I've had it. However today I have had a couple issues, not sure if related. This morning with full right lock on, the front left wheel felt really unstable.. I could feel it sort of grinding even through the steering wheel and the car seems to "slip" on the wheel. I also notice that on acceleration that same wheel regularly causes traction control to come on. That has been going on since I got the car, so about 3 or so years. It seemed worse that usual today, but its always done it. Then this evening I notice a metal on metal grinding noise coming from the same wheel when driving in a striaght line and turning. It doesnt sound like a bearing though.. its not a drone and is quite inconsistent. The car had new discs and pads in 2017 (done 8k miles since and plenty left on pads). So I was hoping you clever people may have an idea what to look for... Firstly on the issue with full lock, and secondly with the metal on metal. I will try and check for trapped stones or anything rubbing the brake discs tomorrow. Cheers |

UPDATE: Used a screwdriver to push the backing plate behind the disc away from the disc, in around 8 places. A small rock came out. Fixed!
Also my front left tyre was running less tha 20 psi. That will make some difference to the other problem. |

I've had this 3-4 times when driving my last 2 Volvos. Sometimes reversing flicks it out, but I also make sure i'm carrying a medium sized pry bar like in this set -
Sealey AK206 Prybar Set 4pc, Black, 64 x 10.8 x 3.8 cm https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000RA0X..._NBofCbV2P57SR Means you don't have to get anywhere near any dirty wheels which is handy if you're on your way out!
