There's a nice 265 for sale at the moment.

As my last 264 went pop due to cylinder liner seal failing, I'm just wondering whether there are garages people would recommend, should a PRV 2.7 need to be professionally rebuilt?

Thanks

The liners are loose in the block with paper ring seals/shims at the bottom between liner and block , you have to get the liners up to a certain height compared to the top of the block .
I rebuillt one once , It Had worn camshafts and rocker arms , leaking crank seals , blown head gasket , timing chain rattle and oil light flickering when idling with hot oil and a couple of exhaust manifold studs broken , oh and 230000 miles ! I found the liners had sunk and uses the thickest shim + another to get the heights right , New camshafts and rockers , head and block were flat so new head gasket , The oil pump relief valve spring was broken , they were quite cheap from Volvo , New timing chains , drilled out the manifold studs , fitted a new set , and new crank seals . I checked the pistons and rings , all within specification , Bores were perfect , still had the cross hatching , crank and bearing shells were as new regarding measurement ... It ran like a sewing machine after just like new .

I have one and a half spare engines. Maybe another rebuilt one if I decide to sling a v8 in the 262c.

You won't find many specialists on the Volvo side of things, but search for Renault Alpine or Delorean, there's a few companies who can supply parts and services for the PRV
