Default XC90 T8 (2018 model) brakes

My new Inscription-Pro T8 brakes seem to require more effort on the brake pedal to effect a stop than my previous (2015) Momentum D5 .
Can the power assisted brakes be adjusted ? Perhaps it's just me getting used to electric drive !
Anyone else experienced this ?

Believe brake pedal feel can be adjusted in menu's,

But when you brake in a D5 it uses the brakes,

when you brake in a T8 it uses the electric motor in the rear axle unless you absolutly stonk on the middle pedal then it will use the brakes aswell,

The dash gauge is usually a good indicator, think upto the amber lines it uses the electric motor

This is a guess but...

On the T8 hybrid the right-hand 'dial' has an indicator showing when you are regenerating electrical power through braking. There is a red sector towards the end of this dial which I presume means that you have exceeded the regenerative capabilities of the braking system and are now engaging the actual brake pads.

If my theory is correct, this must mean that the brakes are, at least to some extent, a two-stage system. Perhaps this is what you are feeling?

(Of course I should be able to find this in the manual but having spent ten minutes trying to find anything about the braking indicator I gave up!)

Belated thanks for the above replies. I have now quite a few miles under my belt, and am quite used to the T8 braking system. I guess it is a combination of electric / pad braking - which I didn't experience on my 3 previous (older) XC90s.

Are you pleased with the T8 so far? I’ve driven a xc60 D5 for the past 8 years, very happy with it but have just ordered my T8 R design for January delivery. How you finding your Electric mileage?

I did a formal test of the mileage on electric power.

Driving a brand new (same day as delivery), fully charged T8 at a cruise control-fixed 55 mph along the (mostly flat) M25 I got 25 miles before the engine cut in. Volvo claim "up to 27 miles" but I'm happy with the mileage I got.

I plug in after every journey and am finding that, for school runs and trips to town, the electric is fine and I never have to use the engine. The electric power does all the heating as well so no problem with winter driving. Recharging from flat using a normal cable doesn't seem very long - perhaps 4 or 5 hours - but I haven't formally measured this.

One curious thing is that despite running on electric nearly all the time the fuel (petrol) gauge seems to be slowly running down as if the car is 'secretly' using fuel. I will keep an eye on this and see if the fuel is really be used or if it's a result of 'drift' owing to the fuel level being calculated rather than measured.

Please note that the 'Pure' driving mode is not pure. If you accelerate hard or you run out of electric it will cut in and 'help' which I guess is fine for most drivers but, speaking as an anal technologist, I want to be in control and would prefer Volvo to allow the driver to decide what the car is going to do rather than some programmer.

Hi Bob, That's nice to hear. I've ordered a T8, delivery due sometime in March so if it's doing that sort of mileage on "pure" that will suit my daily drive to and from work, 14 miles in total.
