Offside Front Banging
Chaps,
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question but I just wanted to check here for advice. I've noticed a banging coming from the drivers front corner of the car for a little while now. It's only on sharp left or right turns and is worse under breaking or accelaration. I'm pretty sure it's a control arm bushing but just in case I'm wrong does anyone have any other ideas what it could be? I'll have the car up on stands this weekend to do the rear disks and pads so I'll have a close inspection whilst I'm there and update afterwards. Cheers Alex

I've had that from a snapped anti-roll bar drop-link. On the level and when stationary the two ends line up so it's not always apparent when you glance underneath. But on corners or uneven surfaces the bar wants to twist, so the two broken ends separate, and jangle and twang alarmingly.

Good call Clifford. I've just stuck my head under the car and cant see anything amiss but, like you say, this may be because the car's flat and level. I'll give everyhting a good wiggle when it's up on stands.

I just had a horrible grumble/knocking sound magically heal itself when I put on a set of new matched tyres.
That being said, your symptoms do sound like a shot bushing. Good luck with the fix
