3rd gear clunk
Hi all,
I have a 2008 XC90 d5 auto with 99k on it, there is a clunk/jolt when changing up and down into 3rd gear also when engaging reverse it clunks, I'm not sure if the reverse is a separate problem. |

Have you had it on VIDA ?
How old are the engine mounts ? When was the gearbox oil last changed ? |

Hi I've not had it on vida a yet, I'm guessing that the car is on the original mounts as there as some vibration through the steering cheek and cabin on tickler. As far as I know the gearbox oil has not been changed either.

Are there any things I can check before a visit to the dealers?

Honestly, I would change the gearbox fluid before doing anything else

It happens when the box is changing up around 2,000 rpm or below. If you are going at a bit more pace above the 2k the change is no where near as harsh

Hve a look at the front engine mount.... underneath, near the front. Like this....
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-V...oTbKEWg6fAq6VQ The internal rubber goes sloppy and can cause clunk.... maybe its that ? Here a video... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-V...oTbKEWg6fAq6VQ |
