Default V70 MK1 Door check straps

Hi , just wondering when changing the door check straps on a 97 V70 is it necessary to remove the door cards ?

Yes, it's a door card off afair. Once you have removed the 2 screws from the A pillar the check strap can then be fed back into the door. You'll see 2 x 10mm nuts holding the check strap to the door.

It's a simple job provided the attachment on the door pillar is all intact, but if it's broken that side it's a welding job. But removing the door card and accessing the door side of things is easy.

The door pillar end is spot welded to the door pillar which is where it often breaks, I did see a method somewhere online which involved drilling through the spot welds, or the remains of them, and using a nut and bolt instead. Never got around to trying it on mine yet.

Best thing to do is watch a YouTube video, just to make sure you take the correct bits off, as you can easily break stuff being clumsy! It is straight forward if you take your time!
