Touching in metallic paint is very difficult but a passable job can be achieved with care.
First clean the scratch and area wit a drop of thinners on a pint free rag.
Lightly abraid the scratch ,not the surrounding paint with some 400 wet and dry . I prefer to do this dry. Make sure any debris is removed from scratch. If any bare metal shows useing a very fine brush ,touch in with primer and allow to dry. Again useing a very fine good quality brushapplytouch up paint to the scratch in small spots allowing to dry between coats.make sure you use correct colour ? Code can be found for paint usually on a sticker on B post. Use solvent based paint for this as water paint will be difficult to use for a novice. Contine this until the scratch is filled with paint and allow to dry thoroughly as it will probably sink as it dries. Now lightly abroad the painted scratch and surrounding area by about 1mm.
Now useing the fine brush again apply the clear top coat, this always a solvent based acrylic laquer. Two pack s best but single pack will do a decent enough job and is easier to use for a begginer. Apply it wet enough so that it flows in the area again applying it in spots ,don't brush it. Allow to dry thoroughly. Repeat until the repair is just proud of surrounding paint when fully died and cured. This will probably take a day or two.
Next using a small price of wood or hard rubber wrapped in 2000 wet and dry paper used wet flat the repair just until it's level with surrounding paint, being careful [B]not to cut through surrounding clearcoat[B] once flat get some finishing compound an a soft cloth and polish .
Repair won't be invisible but you will have to look for it.
There are probably some useful films on this on you tube.
Good luck and take your time .

Depending on the location and size of the scratch, I've found a black permanent marker pen can make a more invisible repair than a touch up unless you're prepared to put some work in as described above.

Just needs to be reapplied now and again after the car's been washed.
