Yes it is an HPL EGR and had Volvo put the MAP Sensor where it's supposed to go, such a stupid fault would have been picked up.
You might want to sit down before reading the next bit and move anyone sensitive to foul language well clear, because you will not believe that something so stupidly simple has caused this problem on so many Euro4 D5's.,
The whole sodding problem is caused by a short on the Throttle body connector plug, right under the EGR. It adapts, sends feedback, there's no DTC, but put your foot down and the bloody thing closes, instead of opens. Result, air starvation and such a significant vacuum, that it's resulted in oil being sucked past the rings. I could not believe what I was witnessing.
I'm not sure whether to cheer, scream or hunt down the designer and knock seven shades of **** out of them.
