Default M Reg 850 2.5 Auto SE

Good Morning,

A long time customer of mine has had a stroke and can't now drive ever and has offered me his 850 2.5 SE Auto at banger money, it does a full MOT!

Please could anyone tell me, is this a good specification and worth having and giving it some TLC to bring it back to it's former glory.

I have noted that both bumpers are cracked in places, are they an easy change or repair?

The load cover is missing?

The genuine wheel caps are only two and damaged?

The roof bar cover strip has been caught in a car wash at some time and the under clips are damaged?

This is the first time l have considered a hobby car since my Son was born six years ago and l have always preferred to keep cars in original condition so any help or advice would be most welcome.

Thank You

James

No brainer, it would break for more than that but if you fancy a project then it's a good starting point. Bumpers are easy enough to replace if you can find a good pair in the right colour.

There is a vertical bolster between the back seat and the rear door that is part of the rear seat back rest. Grab hold of it from the top and pull forward sharply to remove it. Then look at the inner wheel arch where the bracket attaches to the inner arch. This area is so often rotten on these cars now and only start to show any issues on the outside once the rust has gone too far, as it is hiding behind the plastic wheel arch liner. If this area is rotting it is a bit of a pain to weld up properly. I have done this to two cars now, but won’t be doing any more.
