"Book" prices are ok for 10-15 years from new but can be hopelessly inaccurate as cars get older than that.
But it's not for sale at auction now, is it. Its languishing on a dealers forecourt, where it continues to remain. The number of people buying new 7's wasn't that great, and the number willing to pay silly money for one 35 years on is even smaller.

The person who paid £2600 at auction for it now can't sell it.

I think with this, the normal rules apply of a car being worth what someone is willing to pay for it...there is no "book" as such for these cars. All I know is that I wouldn't pay that sort of money for a 7 series car in a month of Sundays.

I wouldn't say that the 7 series wasn't popular when new. Volvo were on the verge on bankruptcy when they made it and it saves them it sold that well (especially north America).

But yes not many people would be willing to pay that much for one now especially when it isn't turbo.

I see its still for sale, as mentioned not surprising at that price. If its actually as good as it looks that's worth £2,500 - £3,000 all day long.

I’d pay £3k for it, drop the engine out of my 940 into it, lower it and change the wheels for something bigger and wider and just cruise.

It’s my favourite colour and interior style so I’d pay more for it.

Looks like they are about to do a drive by shooting !

I'm still not 100% sure on the Ocean wheels. I think they are a bit too deep dish.

I think she looks lovely, no reason to knock it.
Good luck to the buyer .....and the seller.
