The 90 series (and perhaps the new 60) do have ERS capability in the UK if fitted with VOC so they must have some way round the legal/insurance stuff.

I don’t get all this talk about it being illegal, or insurance problems etc. My other car is a Jaguar and it comes with a nice app that lets you remote start the vehicle while leaving the doors locked.

If Jaguar can do it the in the UK then what’s the problem?

ERS is available, on all the new generation cars, with VOC. you can remote start the car for a maximum time of 15 mins, you can only do this twice , so can get 30 mins before the car is started manually. When you unlock the car and the engine is running you have to go through the normal starting procedure before the car can be driven. Note this only applies to cars with auto gearbox.

Do you need a different key for this to work - the 6 button key with "I" or will the standard 4 button key work.

Thanks.

I use remote start on my drive in the UK, I fitted some gates but bollards would have been cheaper. I always use a disk lock on the steering wheel and watch the car on my ring camera that i can view on my phone or tablet or pc. I would not use it anywhere else.

I've remote start fitted on my other car. Not the most economical way to warm it up, but any form of interference will kill the engine.

It's a factory option in the states.
