Default Water pump - Do I fit one?

Car has done 250,000, I have done 100,000 in it. I am about to fit my second cambelt since I have had the car. Would it be advisable to fit a new water pump even though the current one is not leaking?

If yes, then any recommendations other than genuine which is £107.00?

I'm looking at Circoli, Airtex and First line.

Yes change it.
And use a genuine .
Those 3 brands you've mentioned are cheap factor junk.Your better off with the original than a cheap new spurious one.
If your going aftermarket only use Valeo,Ina,Pierburg .

I often go on the principle of "it ain't broke...don't fix it"

But...means a lot of work if it starts to leak later, so I would tend to replace it while doing the belt.

I am the opposite than that however must say you are probably on to something there.

My xc90 has 80k on it when replaced by me and the original was perfect with 0 wear.

If you do decide to change (I would) then only use genuine. Yours might do 250k more where a cheaper one could be good for only 50k or so.

Lot's of threads on here about water pump and should I change it.....
My 1999 V70 tdi had 340,000 miles on it and the original pump which was still working well....your choice, but if you do replace it go for the genuine Volvo.

I have had a 360 do 270,000mls on the original pump and my previous V40 did 370,000mls on the original pump. Belts were changed by me at the correct intervals, but no sign of any wear on the pumps so left well alone. If you do decide to change, you MUST fit a genuine Volvo pump.

You cannot beat the longevity of Volvo pumps - it is just not worth wasting the money you would spend on replacing an original with a copy, only to replace it year or so later because the replacement has failed or started to leak....and believe me the "Joe Soap" special from fleebay or euroshed will fail way before you think.

Please believe me and others it really is false economy.

Thank you to everyone for the replies.

I will now have to make up my mind as to whether I change it or not. As I am doing the work it's not like I would be paying double just the hassle factor only.

Going on the replies it looks very much like I will go genuine.

After what everyone has said I will probably go genuine but out of interest do Valeo, Ina or Pierburg make water pumps.

I opened the box with my new Genuine Volvo cambelt and pullies to see 'Made in Slovakia'. I suppose a genuine water pump could also be made in Slovakia, hopefully by a German or Swedish owned company.

Good point, just because it says Volvo on the box...many car parts are now made by subsidiary companies, so who's to say that your genuine Volvo water pump (or anything else) isn't made by some little chinese bloke in a shanty tin hut?
But...if your genuine, bought from a main dealer, part fails you've at least got somewhere to take it back...try doing that on fleabay.
